Youth School Year Programs, Classes and One-Day Events

Welcome to Fall 2024. 

Youth programs registration is online only. Please be sure to review registration information, as the drop/refund policy differs from the rest of the College. Saturdays or Sundays, in-person classes

I. Drawing: Perspectives and Forms (Ages 15-17)

  • Capture form and perspective with a greater sense of depth and scale. You will experiment with various shading techniques and utilize line and shape to imply distance and space. Exercises include drawing from observation, engaging with still lives, and natural settings. In Partnership with Yang Academy
  • When: Sunday October 13 - November 11, 2024, (5 sessions)  9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

II. Crash Course in 3D Modeling and Animation (Ages 11-13)

  • Model environments and characters! This course will introduce you to 3D modeling basics and animation. You will use custom characters and props to experiment in the creation of materials, texturing and basic rigging all in Blender 3D. Additionally, the course will conclude with exercises in rendering scenes and short video sequences. In Partnership with Yang Academy
  • When: Saturday* new dates, October 12 - November 9, 2024 (5 sessions), 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

III. Artificial Intelligence. (Ages 11-14)

  • The applications of artificial intelligence are endless--and can be overwhelming. In this class, you will examine fields such as health, economics, music, and engineering through the lens of artificial intelligence. You will study interpretable and black-box models including K-Nearest Neighbors classification, regression, K-Means clustering, and decision tree methods. You will also examine important ethical issues including algorithmic bias and the pitfalls of overfitting and underfitting. A typical class will be filled with coding practices, lectures, hands-on practice, and projects where you will train and test your own machine learning models. Artificial intelligence is a field that is constantly growing and evolving. We hope you will be inspired to continue to study machine learning and the broader field of computer science after the program. In Partnership with Yang Academy

IV. Digital Arts (Ages 11-14)

  • Enter the limitless world of digital art, where artists of all skill levels are encouraged to grow and create together. You will learn about a variety of digital art techniques as well as the traditional practices that inspired them, with lessons in character design, color theory, perspective and proportions, and the foundations of animation. Everyone is an artist! In Partnership with Yang Academy.

V. Engineering and Robotics with Coding (Ages 7-10)

  • Are you interested in learning about Coding and Robotics while using Lego®? If yes, then this class is for you! Learn how to program motors and sensors to do work and build multiple robotic creations. You will learn the basics of linear graphics-based coding using Lego® Scratch software. Come develop skills in building, coding, and reasoning, bringing Lego® devices to life. Working in teams, you will use Lego® designs and coding to build models as well as move beyond to create your own designs. Come build something amazing. In partnership with Goldsmith Education.

Fall One Day Adventure in STEM


STEM Day, (Ages 8-14)

  • In this exciting STEM Saturday, you will explore Python Programming, Drone Racing, ROBLOX® Makers, Minecraft® Modding, YouTube® FX Shorts, Cyber Spies, 3D Modeling with Pokémon®, or Video Game Animation! Once you register, you will receive an email where you can select your top four choices. You will get two of the four you choose. Students must bring their own non-perishable lunch*. In partnership with Black Rocket Productions.
  • When: Saturday, December 7, 2024 (one-day class). 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.* a 30 minute break for lunch
